Under The Radar Who May Rise?

They toil here at the NovaCare Complex every day, working hard to break through and gain some publicity. They are, in a lot of ways, the Unknown Eagles, and they are the kind of players who fascinate me and who could truly impact the football team this season. Some of them are reasonably well established -- Juqua Parker has been a starter here for years -- and some of them may not even make the team. But for the sake of conversation on a slow, off-season day, let's kick around a few names on the Eagles roster ...

Hobbs Eager To Prove Himself On The Corner

Ellis Hobbs lives by the Five P's that he has established: Proper Preparation Prevents Poor Performance. It is a daily mantra, and with so much riding professionally on this season, Hobbs is leaving nothing to chance. He is a driven man, motivated like at no other time in his career, as he sets his sights not only on earning the starting right cornerback job for the Eagles, but excelling every week.

"I expect great things, so when they come you won't hear me say that it is at all a surprise," he said. "I have attacked this off-season differently. I wanted to be physically ready before the off-season program began, and because of my injury (neck injury that sidelined him for the second half of the 2009 campaign) I had a lot more down time. Starting in early February, as soon as the doctor released me to do physical activity I was on the treadmill, doing pushups, doing sit-ups, anything minimal I could do without a lot of stress on my neck.

Allen's Tackling Should Prove Just Fine

It's Mother's Day. It's not a day for bickering. And certainly not a day to emphasize the tough, physical nature of the NFL.

But when the Eagles drafted Nate Allen with the 37th pick in the 2010 NFL Draft, some fans groaned because of his tackling ability.

The team captain and second-team All-Big East honoree started 39 straight games, racked up 224 tackles and snared nine interceptions.

For whatever reason, though, there's this label that his tackling leaves something to be desired. General manager Howie Roseman certainly doesn't get it.

Who's Still Available In Free Agency?

Even though the Eagles currently have 86 players on their roster - draft picks do not count towards the 83-man roster limit until they sign contracts - there is still a possibility that more players will be added between now and the start of the 2010 season.

Most viable rookie free agents have already been signed by teams across the league, so barring a potential trade, the only arena where talent can still be acquired is through veteran free agency. Of course the cream of the free agent crop has already been gobbled up, but there are still a number of useful veterans who can at the least provide quality depth.

It was just the first camp of a long spring and summer and the names could very well change between now and September 12 when the kelly green (for that day) Eagles play Green Bay at Lincoln Financial Field, but it was telling over the weekend that Macho Harris lined up as the starter at free safety and Joselio Hanson started at right cornerback for the defense. Telling in that the Eagles understand they are far away from drawing any conclusions in the all-important secondary.

How will it look when the season opens? Impossible to tell right now. This is not to suggest that Harris was a placeholder at free safety for the post-draft practices, but there certainly are going to be some challenges to the position. Harris is ahead of Quintin Demps on the depth chart, that much we can surmise from the post-draft camp. Where second-round draft pick Nate Allen and veteran free-agent signee Marlin Jackson fit into the equation remain to be seen.

Vick Much Improved Since Last Year

For the first time in his entire life, Michael Vick is a No. 2 quarterback.

The uber-talented former first overall draft pick spent the weekend running the second-string offense during the Eagles' mini-camp, and it was clear to on-lookers that the suddenness and quickness of the "old Michael Vick" has started to return. Of course, Vick spent the 2009 season as the No. 3 quarterback, running his specialty "wildcat" packages and re-acclimating himself to football after his incarceration. Now, with a full season of coaching and practicing under his belt, Vick is closer to the player he was at the peak of his career.
"As a competitor, as an athlete, you always feel like you're the greatest," Vick said. "But in reality, I wasn't there (last year). As I watched myself on film and just and just hearing the guys talking - because I can't see it, I can only react. I feel good when I'm doing it, but I can't see it from the outside looking in. Everybody's telling me I look like my old self, and I feel that way. My quickness is there. Just the sudden movements that I used to have that I did instinctively, without even thinking about it, it's back."

Bradley: I'm Cleared To Practice

The Eagles held a conference call with season ticketholders on Tuesday, a Fan Forum featuring head coach Andy Reid, play-by-play voice Merrill Reese, wide receiver Jeremy Maclin and linebacker Stewart Bradley. Fans called in and asked questions to Reid and the players, and Bradley was asked about his progress from the knee injury he suffered last summer.

"I'm coming along great, and in fact I was just cleared by the doctors to practice this weekend," said Bradley, who will be in uniform for the post-draft mini-camp that begins on Friday. "I am really excited to get back on the field. I don't think I will have any limitations."

The Eagles will keep a close eye on Bradley and not rush him, but the news that he is OK to practice -- Reid said on Saturday that he expected Bradley and tight end Cornelius Ingram to work in the five practices -- is exciting, indeed.

A Look At The 2011 Draft Picks

Eagles Defense Gets Younger, And More

The big picture is not yet complete, so rushing to judgment after the Eagles traded starting cornerback Sheldon Brown and sometimes-starting linebacker Chris Gocong to Cleveland for two draft picks and linebacker Alex Hall doesn't make a lot of sense. The Eagles took another step on Friday of purging their roster, of becoming younger and, says general manager Howie Roseman, putting themselves in a position to become a better football team in 2010.

Are the Eagles rebuilding? Are they turning the roster over and starting new?
"The word 'rebuilding' will never enter our vocabulary," said Roseman. "We're trying to win, and we're trying to win right now. We're just trying to get better in all areas."

A Cornerback Or A Pass Rusher?

The Eagles biggest need heading into the draft is at cornerback. Ellis Hobbs is penciled in as the starter on the right side, but the team will want someone to come in and challenge him for that job. While cornerback is the biggest need, that doesn't mean the first pick will be spent to address that position. There are many personnel guys that will tell you to always go after a pass-rusher first and foremost. That is a position that can help out the cornerbacks by getting pressure on the passer.

The Eagles have a pair of defensive ends already in place. Trent Cole is our best defensive player and a real force off the edge. Darryl Tapp is new to the team, but will start on the left side. The Eagles hope he'll turn into a very good player. A lot of people in league circles feel that he's an ideal fit for the Eagles and will in fact become a very good left end.

While we don't need a starting defensive end you can never have enough pass rushers. It will not bother me in the least if the Eagles use the 24th pick on a defensive end. That is a position where you rotate players. With Chris Clemons and Darren Howard gone there is a need for some depth at end. We certainly don't have to use an early pick for depth. There is a possibility that the highest-rated player will be a defensive end. If so, you don't want to pass on him.

Samuel: Entire Team Needs To Improve

In an article exploring how the Eagles can replace the production of Sheldon Brown, who was traded to the Cleveland Browns on Friday, head coach Andy Reid told Paul Domowitch of the Philadelphia Daily News that Pro Bowl left cornerback Asante Samuel would have to pick up some of the slack.

"I think Asante knows he needs to have a better year than what he had, even though he was a Pro Bowler," Reid said. "As good a player as he is, he can be even better. And I think that's the way he's handling the off-season."
Samuel responded by texting Comcast SportsNet's Derrick Gunn that improvement is needed in all levels of the organization.

McNabb Traded To Redskins

The Eagles have confirmed that the Washington Redskins have acquired quarterback Donovan McNabb in exchange for the 37th overall pick in the 2010 NFL draft and a 3rd- or 4th-round pick in 2011.

Adam Schefter of ESPN first reported the trade on twitter, tweeting "Filed to ESPN: Donovan McNabb has been traded to the Washington Redskins. Compensation still unknown. But McNabb's a Redskin."

The Eagles now have 11 picks in what is widely considered to be a loaded draft, including five picks in the first three rounds.

Hobbs, Gocong Sign One-Year Deals

Cornerback Ellis Hobbs and linebacker Chris Gocong were each signed to a one-year contract on Tuesday. Both players were restricted free agents this off-season and were tendered the one-year deals by the Eagles. Neither player can now sign with another team. The deadline for teams to sign other teams' restricted free agents to an offer sheet is April 15.

Hobbs was acquired by the Eagles last year in a draft-day trade with the New England Patriots. Hobbs was the lead kickoff return specialist as well as a reserve outside cornerback for the Eagles before suffering a season-ending neck injury against the Dallas Cowboys last November. Hobbs averaged 24.1 yards per kickoff return and had 14 total tackles on defense in 2009. Hobbs started games in each of his first four years in the NFL with the Patriots. In all, Hobbs has started in 49 games (played in 71) and has accumulated 211 tackles, 2.5 sacks and nine interceptions. He has also returned three kickoffs for a touchdown. In 2007, Hobbs set an NFL record with a kickoff return of 108 yards for a touchdown.

A Spin Around The NFC East

While the Eagles' divisional foes wait to see if the team makes a change at quarterback, we thought we'd take a moment to catch up on some headlines generated recently by the three other NFC East teams.

In Dallas, a change in the offensive backfield could be on the horizon with Felix Jones replacing Marion Barber as the starting tailback.
"That has been a consideration, and it certainly is a consideration," Cowboys owner Jerry Jones told the Fort Worth Star-Telegram.
The 6-foot, 218-pound Jones carried the ball 116 times last season, averaging near 6 yards a carry.

Bell Gives Eagles Added Dimension In Backfield

The Eagles have big plans for Mike Bell. That much is clear. They went after Bell aggressively in free agency, signing him last week to an offer sheet and then waiting an agonizing seven days to find out that New Orleans did not match the offer and now, the question is all about how the Eagles plan to use Bell and how he fits in with this offense. He is a young player in the NFL, someone who has a chip on his shoulder stemming from being ignored in the 2006 draft. Bell packs 225 pounds on his 6-foot frame, and he is more punisher than dancer. After beginning his career in Denver with a promising 677 yards and 8 touchdowns, Bell's career faded and then moved away from Denver, and he found a new start with the Saints.

Overtime, QB Talk At League Meetings

The league meetings are underway in Orlando, Fla. and one hotly-contested item owners are scheduled to vote on is a change to playoff overtime rules.

Titans coach Jeff Fisher, co-chairman on the NFL Competition Committee, is one of the key minds behind the proposal aimed at trying to give each team the ball at least once.

Under the proposal, if the team that wins the coin toss proceeds to score a field goal on its first drive, the other team would get the ball. And if that team also scores a field goal, the present sudden-death format would then be in place. However, if the team that wins the toss drives for a touchdown, the game is over, and the opposing offense would never see the field.

Eagles Announce Jackson Visit

Free agent defensive back Marlin Jackson will arrive in Philadelphia this afternoon to visit with team officials through tomorrow.

The 26-year-old Jackson is an unrestricted free agent who spent the first five years of his NFL career with the Indianapolis Colts. Jackson (6-0, 196) played in 56 games (32 starts) for the Colts and posted 306 tackles and four interceptions. He has seen action at both cornerback and safety during his career. A native of Sharon, PA, Jackson was Indianapolis' first round draft pick (29th overall) in 2005 from the University of Michigan.

Rams In Talks For McNabb

The St. Louis Rams hold the No. 1 overall pick in the 2010 NFL Draft. The buzz from the Scouting Combine in Indianapolis is that the Rams will use that draft pick on Oklahoma quarterback Sam Bradford. But the Rams may be looking to fortify the quarterback position before the NFL Draft, according to a report.
Bryan Burwell of the St. Louis Post-Dispatch reports that "according to more than one well-informed source, the Rams have had intense internal conversations with the Philadelphia Eagles about a trade for Pro Bowler Donovan McNabb."
Not exactly sure how the Rams' internal conversations have been with the Eagles, but Burwell purports that it wouldn't be for the No. 1 overall pick but a second-round pick.

Rumor Mill: Peppers & Weaver

Defensive end Julius Peppers will be one of the most highly sought-after players on the open market when free agency kicks off on Friday. The All-Pro is coming off of a season in which he registered 10.5 sacks, forced five fumbles, picked off two passes and scored a touchdown. The 6-7, 283-pound physical marvel has 81 career sacks in eight NFL seasons, five of which have resulted in Pro Bowl trips. He was also named to the NFL's All-Decade Team.
Whether or not the Eagles are interested in pairing Peppers as a three-down end with Trent Cole remains to be seen, but the answer might be yes if Peppers gets his way. Jeff McLane of the Philadelphia Inquirer cites a league source who told him that Peppers has the"Eagles on his short list of teams."
As for the Eagles' free agents, the team might be close with an All-Pro of their own. Fullback Leonard Weaver is scheduled to become a restricted free agent on Friday after a career year in which he rushed for 323 yards, added another 140 yards receiving and scored four total touchdowns. Weaver said during the season that he would love to remain with the Eagles and it looks like that a long-term deal could potentially get done before the start of free agency.

On Deadline, Eagles Will Not Use Franchise Tag

The deadline for NFL teams to apply their franchise tag is today at 4 p.m. EST. The franchise tag allows teams to retain the rights of a player who is scheduled to become an unrestricted free agent for one season at the average salary of the top five players at the player's position.

The Eagles will not be applying the franchise tag to any of their four unrestricted-free-agents-to-be. Those four players who could hit the open market on March 5 are linebacker Tracy White, linebacker Jeremiah Trotter, safety Sean Jones and defensive end Jason Babin.
Several players who could have potentially been a candidate for the franchise tag like fullback Leonard Weaver will become restricted free agents because of the absence of a Collective Bargaining Agreement. The rest of the Eagles' restricted free agents are offensive lineman Nick Cole, linebacker Chris Gocong, wide receiver Jason Avant, offensive lineman Max Jean-Gilles, tight end Alex Smith, linebacker Omar Gaither and cornerback Ellis Hobbs.

Westbrook done in Philly

I think this is a big loss.
Brian Westbrook could break open a game from almost anywhere on the field.

Lined up in the slot, he could run a slant, beat a linebacker and take off with no one able to catch him. Out of the backfield, he was a 1,000-yard rusher who always kept defenses guessing -- and flailing.
But in his later years, injuries have defined Westbrook more than his dynamic offensive skills. And his age, salary and lengthy list of beaten body parts led the Philadelphia Eagles to release him Tuesday and save themselves $7.5 million due next season.I think we all know that Brian is one of the all-time great Philadelphia Eagles," coach Andy Reid said. "For what we've done here over the years, Brian has been just a huge part of building this program to the level that we're at now. My heart will always be a Brian Westbrook fan as we go forward here."

A former All-Pro, the 5-foot-10 Westbrook led the league with 2,104 yards from scrimmage in 2007. He rushed for 1,333 yards and accounted for 12 touchdowns that season.

But Westbrook spent much of last season on the sideline, missing eight games with two concussions and an ankle injury. Westbrook had just two touchdowns in 2009.

View On Possible Vick Trade Timeline

Bowen believes that if one of the 31 other teams approached the Eagles with the right offer today, it's hard to imagine Andy Reid and Co. would turn it down.
Bowen writes: "It is hard not to imagine that the Eagles aren't slowly playing the rest of the league when it comes to Vick — because there is interest in the former Falcons starter. We have heard his name mentioned in Buffalo and in St. Louis, but anyone who follows the league knows that if a deal is made, it would most likely come before the draft."
Bowen says that if a team is serious about acquiring Vick and inserting him as a starter, then a deal must be struck before the spring mini-camps and OTAs.
"He needs to be there. He needs to be in the playbook, in the meeting room and so on," Bowen writes.

Kolb: No Contract Talks With Eagles

Appearing on Philadelphia sports radio station WIP with Howard Eskin and Ike Reese, Eagles quarterback Kevin Kolb shot down rumors that he and the Eagles have been involved in contract talks.

"We haven't even talked to them as far as I know," Kolb said. "That totally blew me away when that was reported because that was obviously false.

"I don't even talk to my agent that much about it because ultimately it doesn't have anything to do with what we say. So we're kind of just sitting back right now and letting things iron out. We know there's still some time here and I'm sure there'll be a phone call some time in the near future or a meeting. But as of right now we're just going to let it iron out and have faith that the right decision's going to be made."

Last week, Garry Cobb of gcobb.com reported that the Eagles had begun negotiations with Kolb about a contract extension. Kolb, along with Donovan McNabb and Michael Vick, is signed through the 2010 season. In his two starts in 2009, Kolb became the first player in NFL history to surpass 300 passing yards in his first two career starts.

Kolb said that although there have been no talks of an extension, he sees himself in Philadelphia for the foreseeable future.

Mikell On Football Without Helmets

One of the NFL's hot button topics over the past year or so has been the prevalence of concussions throughout the league. Two Eagles missed time in 2009 because of concussion-related symptoms, including running back Brian Westbrook who twice suffered a concussion during the season.

Often, the biggest hits in an NFL game take place in the secondary, where defensive backs are primed to "light up" a receiver. Recently, Eagles safety Quintin Mikell discussed what it feels like after a big hit, the biggest hit of his career and the role of helmets in football with Stephen J. Dubner, one of the co-authors of the best-selling book "Freakonomics". The full conversation can be heard on the New York Times' Freakonomics blog.

The biggest hit of my career "was with (Oakland Raiders' running back) Justin Fargas," said Mikell. Fargas "was running towards the sideline and I was running towards him and we're both headed towards the sideline. It was almost like neither one of us was going to back down because we knew it was either going to be a big collision or not. He could have run out of bounds, but I just knew he was going to try and run me over just watching him in film. Essentially what happened was we ran full speed into each other and pretty much knocked each other out. I tried to get up a little too soon and I fell back down and was wobbly-kneed. Eventually, the trainers pulled me out. They were like, 'You can't go back in right now.' Actually, he came out for a few plays too, so we both knocked each other out."

"As a competitor, you never know if he's going to get up or not so you want to be the first one up and you want to make sure that you didn't take the loss right there. Essentially, I think I won because I got up before he did, even though I was wobbly-kneed."

Mikell went on to give an interesting description of what one's head feels like following a big collision.

"It's a really odd feeling," he said. "The first thing you get is everything starts to vibrate. Like if you laid your head on your cell phone and put it on vibrate and had someone call you, that's what it felt like for me. So instantly, I actually saw it on film, instantly I tried to grab my helmet to try to steady everything and then after that initial vibration it's almost like you're kind of in a dream. You're just kind of floating and your legs are like jell-o. You're trying to stand up and your mind is trying to tell your body to do it but your body and everything is disconnected so you pretty much just fall back flat on your face."

Former Player Weighs In On McNabb

Former NFL player and NationalFootballPost.com columnist Matt Bowen has offered up some interesting insight on one Eagles' off-season move and an opinion on the team's immediate future at the quarterback position.
A former safety, Bowen tackled the rumors regarding the future of Donovan McNabb in Philadelphia in a recent article.
Not taking anything away from what Kevin Kolb did in limited action in 2009, Bowen is not sure if it's time for the Eagles to move on without McNabb.
Writes Bowen: "It is easy to point at Kolb's brief production this past season, and although it was very good (he threw for 300 yards in back-to-back games), is that enough to let McNabb walk? Once you give the huddle to Kolb, there is no turning back, and buyer's remorse at the quarterback position in the NFL is a franchise killer.
"Look, I am not trying to throw Kolb under the bus, but from the quarterbacks I saw during my career, it takes more than a couple of games to show a franchise that you are ready to play for an entire season and beyond."
Though a Super Bowl win has eluded McNabb, Bowen believes the quarterback's play is part of what helps the Eagles contend for a championship every season.

McNabb Gives Super Bowl Analysis On ESPN

Eagles' quarterback Donovan McNabb appeared live on ESPN's 6 p.m. SportsCenter on set in Miami to analyze this Sunday's Super Bowl.

McNabb offered up a breakdown of several matchups and then provided his prediction for the final score.

"I'm going to take the Indianapolis Colts," McNabb said. "I think what they've been able to accomplish all season, by being able to get the ball downfield, put points on the board, run the ball effectively when they needed to. I'm going to take the Colts (to win) by 17.

"It's definitely going to be in the 40's. What it's going to come down to is the third-down conversions. If a team is able to sustain drives and move the chains and come out with points, then you're going to see this thing go all the way down to the wire. But if teams can't convert on third-downs and certain situations, and defenses aren't creating turnovers, it's going to be a long day."

McNabb also offered insight as to what is going through the heads of the respective Super Bowl quarterbacks, Peyton Manning and Drew Brees. McNabb, of course, played in the 2004 Super Bowl.

"Well right now they understand that they've been preparing for a week and a half now and by this time they've already broken down what they can do on first down, what they can do on second down and third down," he said. "They know how to attack the blitz. I think at this particular time, this is when you relax. You begin to spend time with your teammates, you go out to dinner, watch a couple movies and be able to understand what's at stake this weekend."

Eagles Add Competition With P Brooks

The Eagles signed punter Durant Brooks on Tuesday to bolster the depth at the position.
Brooks was drafted by the Washington Redskins in the sixth round of the 2008 NFL Draft after winning the Ray Guy Award for best collegiate punter in his senior year at Georgia Tech.
In addition to winning the award, Brooks has also been tutored by Guy.
The 6-foot, 204-pound Brooks played in six games with the Redskins his rookie season and had a gross average of 39.6 yards per punt and a net average of 32.1 yards per punt. The Redskins replaced him midseason with Ryan Plackemeier.
Brooks finished his rookie season on the practice squad of the Green Bay Packers and signed a future contract with the Packers at the end of the season, but was released at the end of training camp. It was reported that Brooks had a tryout with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in December, but he did not play with a team during the 2009 season.
The Eagles have Sav Rocca in the fold, but Rocca is due to be a restricted free agent this off-season. Rocca is the franchise's all-time leader with a 37.1 career net punting average. Rocca's 38.3 net punting average in the 2009 season broke his own single-season franchise record.

Jackson Shines In Pro Bowl

DeSean Jackson had six catches for a team-high 101 receiving yards and a pair of touchdown receptions as the NFC All-Stars lost a 41-34 shootout to the AFC All-Stars in the Pro Bowl. As the NFC tried to come from behind on their final offensive drive, Jackson was the intended target of Tony Romo's pass that was intercepted by James Harrison. The AFC earned a pair of first downs which then allowed them to run out the clock. Jackson's second touchdown pass - a 58-yard strike early in the third quarter - came from Eagles teammate Donovan McNabb. That score put the NFC ahead 24-17, but the AFC answered with 17 straight points to take control of the game. Jackson's first touchdown came on a 7-yard screen from Aaron Rodgers in the second quarter. McNabb finished as the NFC's leading rusher with 26 yards on four carries. In the air, McNabb was 3-of-10 for 78 yards with the touchdown and an interception.

Eagles Name Roseman New General Manager

The Eagles on Friday named Howie Roseman the team's general manager, filling the void created when Tom Heckert left to join Cleveland after the Eagles' 2009 season ended.

Now in his 11th year in Philadelphia, Roseman spent the last two seasons as the team's vice president of player personnel. As the team's general manager, he will maintain a very similar role, working closely with head coach Andy Reid in all aspects of the player personnel department. He will manage the college and pro scouting staffs, organize draft meetings and the draft board, scout the top collegiate players around the country and assist in formulating the team's roster throughout the year.

The 34-year-old Roseman originally joined the Eagles in 2000 as salary cap/staff counsel. He was elevated to director of football administration in 2003 and to vice president of football administration in 2006. In this role, Roseman worked in the personnel department evaluating players around the NFL and for the draft. He also represented the team to the NFL on contract, salary cap, and player personnel matters.

Reid Voted Third-Best Coach Of The Decade

As part of their decade retrospective on the National Football League in the 2000s, USA Today named Patriots' head coach Bill Belichick their coach of the decade. While Belichick received all 10 first-place votes, Eagles' head coach Andy Reid finished tied for third in the voting with former Pittsburgh Steelers head coach Bill Cowher.

From 2000 to 2009, Reid won 103 regular season games (a .648 winning percentage) to go along with his 10 playoff victories.

Here's what USA Today had to say about Reid's decade at the helm of the Eagles:

"After taking over a 3-13 team in 1999, Reid has turned the Eagles into one of the NFL's elite teams. Reid has been named NFL coach of the year twice, and compiled the best win total (108), winning percentage (.617), and playoff victory total (10) in Eagles history. He has won five division titles, gotten his team to the NFC championship game five times and the Super Bowl once. Among coaches with 100 games under their belt, Reid's winning percentage is second among active coaches, behind Belichick."

Former Indianapolis Colts' head coach Tony Dungy finished in second place, while Tennessee Titans' head coach Jeff Fisher came in fifth.

McNabb is going to the Pro Bowl

With the New Orleans Saints headed to the Super Bowl, quarterback Drew Brees will not be available to play in the Pro Bowl. As the first alternate, Donovan McNabb is next in line to be headed down to Miami for the all-star game next Sunday joining Minnesota's Brett Favre and Green Bay's Aaron Rodgers (how ironic is that pairing). McNabb said on his Yardbarker blog earlier late last week that he's "excited about playing," but he would "gladly trade places" with Brees. "I enjoyed the game in Hawaii each time I was fortunate to go," McNabb wrote. "We have a nice representation of Eagles there and I look forward to being with my Philadelphia teammates. I like the camaraderie with many guys from around the league and the many events that the NFL puts on. Personally, I'd like to see how having the game a week before the Super Bowl and in the same city affects the game. I was a fan of the way it used to be." When the announcement is made official, this will be McNabb's sixth trip to the Pro Bowl. He represented the NFC for five straight years from 2000-04. McNabb will be the eighth Eagle to head to Miami, which is the largest contingent since the 2004 season (10). Also headed to Miami are: wide receiver/returner DeSean Jackson, fullback Leonard Weaver, left tackle Jason Peters, defensive end Trent Cole, cornerback Asante Samuel, kicker David Akers and long snapper Jon Dorenbos. McNabb completed over 60 percent of his passes this year for 3,553 yards, 22 touchdowns and 10 interceptions in 14 games. He finished the year with a 92.9 QB rating. The title of McNabb's blog entry was "Unfinished Business" and he concluded by writing that while there is talk in Philadelphia about his future he would like to "finish the job" of winning a Super Bowl title.

The eagles 2010 schedule which looks hard but i hope Donovan pulls threw and goes 16-0. which i think will happen with Jackson, McClain, Macoy, weaver, And celek, and maybe Westbrook if he is healthy and not hurt.they are going to have a great year with that schedule. that's that for this week.

Jon Dorenbos added to the probowl

Long snapper Jon Dorenbos is the seventh Eagle to be named to the NFC's Pro Bowl team, the Eagles announced on Wednesday. Dorenbos goes in as an "extra" player or "need" player given the team does not have a long snapper on the Pro Bowl roster.

Dorenbos, who has been in the NFL for seven seasons, makes his first Pro Bowl team. Acquired by the Eagles in 2006 as an unrestricted free agent after an injury to Mike Bartrum, Dorenbos have proven to be outstanding not only on his snaps to punter Sav Rocca and Rocca as a holder for kicker David Akers, but also in his coverage down the field on punts.

Maclin's Season-Ending Numbers increase

Wide receiver Jeremy Maclin added another reception to his 2009 regular season total and didn't have to do a thing. The NFL simply corrected a mistake.
The NFL had credited DeSean Jackson with an 11-yard reception in the fourth quarter of the Week 17 loss to the Dallas Cowboys. It turned out that Maclin had made the catch.
Incorporating the updated numbers, Maclin finished his rookie season with 56 catches for 773 yards and four touchdowns. Jackson, meanwhile, had 62 receptions for 1,156 yards and nine receiving touchdowns.
Jackson shouldn't be too upset about the adjustment. He was named to The Associated Press' All-Pro team on Thursday. He was the second-team kick returner. Earlier in the week, Jackson was named the All-Pro punt returner by The Sporting News. The Associated Press team does not differentiate between kick and punt returner on its team. Jackson just missed out on being named to the AP All-Pro team as a receiver. According to NFL.com, Jackson finished fifth in the voting with six votes. Jason Peters also came up just short on the offensive tackle ballot with a fifth-place tally.

The Season Is Over

It has been still a good year for our Philadelphia Eagles. I would like to thank all the fans for supporting the eagles. Through good and bad times. I think that next season they need to give Michel Vick more chances because against the cowboys i think he proved himself. Ruff Two Weeks

huh it has been a ruff week for our Philadelphia Eagles. there has been a lot of disappointments. But don't let your hopes down because there is always next year that we can go 16-0.We will win the Superbowl next year and all the fresh players like macoy, McClain, and mostly Deasan Jackson will do better. And the case for Mcnabb i think he should stay he is a good player just little mistakes.
